Press release (immediate release)
St-Pie (June 1, 2006) - The NDRA Championship will start this Sunday by presenting its 4 classes. As well, Sanair's Green Track will begin its activities on Saturday.
Once more, the NDRA Championship will excite and thrill us all season long with its 4 different classes over 10 races. In addition to the Super Pro, Sportsman, Street and Compact classes, special events have been added such as the Club Corvette Classique, the Mazda Protégé, the Cobra class as well as Stock & Super Stock. Fans will be getting the « bang for their buck » as the entry fee is $10 and free of charge for kids aged 15 and under. Everyone coming through the gate will be receiving a free copy of the Journal de Montréal (courtesy of Sanair and Journal de Montréal), as well as a pamphlet describing drag racing's basics.
Judging by the participation of 135 racers at the Early Birds Championship which ended on May 28, we can only anticipate a great NDRA championship. The enticing payouts are garanteed and by far the best on Quebec drag racing's scene making Sanair a place of choice for some of the best racers.
In the big class – Super Pro -- the following racers are considered serious contenders for the championship's top spot: Angers , Martel, Gobeil, Laframboise, Gauvreau and Arnold , as well as last year's champion Jean-Guy Sanesac. Many of these racers already won a race in the Early Birds championship, including Mario Martel who finished first in the points.
The Sportsman class will also provide an excellent show by the following racers : Abbott, Bosley, Coté, D'Amour, Cauchon, Paré and the young lady Joleen Curtis (17 year-old) who has recently been noticed for her outstanding performances. Last year, the driver Greg Abbott took the honours in this class.
The Street class will see the following racers going for the top : Martin Racine is a favorite to repeat his recent top finish (Early Birds), but the Blaquière, Charland, Lemay, Favreau et Coté to name only a few, will be looking to take the honours away from him.
The Compact class will present us with the best 4 cylinder cars. A surprise awaits those believing that the 4 cylinders are not fast as they are spectacular to watch on a track.
This Sunday only and in addition to our first NDRA Champrionship program, we are welcoming le Club Corvette Classique. Owners will be racing against one another with their beautiful Corvettes. This is a must see for Corvette lovers.
- Saturday night time trial at Sanair's Green Track -
The Green Track will be open on June 3rd for time trial. The season will officially begin on the evening of June 10 with pedal karts as a special presentation. For the pleasure of the spectators, the karts will be driven by girls featured in the men's magazine « Summum ».
Friday night street races will continue starting at 7:00pm. Entry is only $5 and free of charge for kids aged 5 and under. The safe way to race !!!
