Press Release (immediate release)
Sanair hosts drag races every Sunday where the popular Joleen Curtis, a 17 year-old girl and other Americans don't go unnoticed.
St-Pie, Québec , Canada (June 8, 2006) – This season, many racers from the United States are participating in Sanair's NDRA Championship where some are actually favorites to finish on top. Sanair is hosting the championship's 2 nd race this Sunday and we are already expecting some great racing in the Sportsman class where drivers are only 1 point apart in the points fund. Justin Bosley of Enosburg is in third place (23 points) and only three points behind the leader Alain Cauchon. He is closely followed by Todd Baker and Greg Abbott both at 22pts and Joleen Curtis at 21pts.
All the above mentioned drivers also didn't go unnoticed at the Early Birds championship. Todd Baker of Enosburg won the second out of 4 races. Justin Bosley also of Enosburg finished in third place during the same race.
It was the following week that Joleen Curtis, a 17 year-old rookie female, surprisingly caught everyone attention with her performance. Joleen is the daughter of well known racer Dave Curtis of Enosburg. She has proven to have what it takes and has left a positive impression at race tracks. She has gained respect of more experienced drivers who will be keeping an eye on her. On May 28th, during the Early Birds championship's first round of eliminations, Joleen defeated Frédéric Angers who is a strong contender for the NDRA Championship this year. To give you a better idea, the Early Birds only had two classes: Class A (6.99 to 12.99 sec.) and Class B (13.00 + sec.). This year's new championship took place before the ongoing NDRA and provided a number of racers the opportunity to make time trials and fine tuning before taking on the NDRA championship.
For Joleen who usually races in the Sportsman Class, it was out of the ordinary to race against experienced Super Pro drivers during the Early Birds Championship. Especially when Super Pro drivers are allowed the use of delay boxes to help with their reaction times' consistancy when racers in the Sportsman class are prohibited the use of such electronic device. All that said, Joleen has proven to be one step ahead of many racers with her outstanding performances. She also finished 5th in the points fund at the Early Birds Championship trailing Justin Bosley by only two points.
